Recently, Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation Group (BAIC Group) and Russia's AMS Group announced the establishment of a joint-venture automobile manufacturing enterprise BAW-RUS Automotive Co., Ltd.

TrueCar.com, a price-tracking website, stated that the number of units of vehicles sold in the US will most likely reach 12.8 million. It will be the highest number of sales to be achieved since 2008.

Public excitement may be centred around the 50-plus new vehicle launches, but the Auto Expo next week is gearing up to deliver on the business end — and give a strong boost in the process to an industry in the doldrums.

The federal government has been advised to consider waivers on import for operators in the auto industry as a way of reviving the sector and  creating more jobs for Nigerians.

“The growing size of the Indian automobile industry brings us here,” Daniele Versolato, commercial director for Solera-Thermoform Group srl of Fucecchio, Italy, said in a recent interview at the Automotive Plastics India 2011 in Mumbai. “The potential is huge in India.”
